With the support of the Illinois COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund, The Illinois Coalition of Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) and YWCA Northwestern Illinois will be able to provide emergency assistance funds to immigrant families affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
These funds are currently available to help low-income, limited English proficient immigrants who are not eligible for the federal stimulus package, unemployment insurance and/or public benefits.
The funds will go quickly and will be given out on a first come first serve basis. We will only be able to provide assistance to the first 120 applications. These funds are for individuals who have not received any type of Covid 19 assistance. Filling out an application does not guarantee receiving assistance. YWCA La Voz Latina will complete the first half of the application process. The second half of the process will be done by another organization where applications will be reviewed and compared in a Statewide database to determine if an applicant has already received relief funds. Final approval could take a few weeks. Once approved, further information will be provided to you.
Please note that if we contact you, we will need you to provide us with proof of residency in Illinois and proof of identity in order to process the application. Some examples of documents that meet both requirements are the matricula and the TVDL. If the applicant does not have either of these, they can provide a passport and current mail or one of staff will work with you to determine what would qualify.
*The application process will close when we are unable to provide any more assistance; however, we are working on securing more funds to assist more families, so please check back from time to time if the application is not active. There is a lot of need right now and there may be some delay in us reaching out to you but we are committed to helping as many families as we can during these trying times.
