I am calling out of great concern for the families served by YWCA Northwestern Illinois. The uncertainty surrounding federal grants, loans, and financial assistance threatens to damage human services agencies such as YWCA, adversely impacting their ability to serve our community’s most vulnerable.
Without this funding, many parents will lose access to child care for their children, making it very difficult to work and earn an income to support their families.
Without this funding, families will lose access to the support systems provided through YWCA Northwestern Illinois’ home visiting program. Through Family Support Workers, families receive important information regarding their child’s growth and development, help developing their parenting skills and connections to community resources.
These are only a couple of the dire consequences that will adversely affect our community’s safety, economy and future. YWCA Northwestern IL provides 10 vital programs that serve over 13,000 citizens in our communities.
I urge you to stand up for the families of this region and ask the White House to continue to fund vital human services programs.
Thank you,
