YWCA Northwestern Illinois Welcomes Three New Board of Directors 

Rockford, IL—YWCA Northwestern Illinois has welcomed three new members to the Board of Directors: Lesly Couper, Lori Lyons and Tiffany Nieman. Each will serve a three year term for up to three terms.

About Lesly—Leslie Couper is the Chief Operating Officer at the Workplace where she oversees company operations, strategy and performance. Lesly holds an MBA from NIU and a BS from Bradley University. Dedicated to the community, she serves as a board member for Carpenter’s Place, Rockford Chamber and the Rock Valley College Foundation. In addition, she was recognized as the 2016 Woman Manager of the Year and one of the 20 People You Should Know in 2018.

About Lori—Lori Lyons is the Finance Director with the Village of Hampshire a position she has held since 2013. Lori is a member of the Rockford Area Illini Club, University of Illinois Alumni Association, Illinois Holstein Association and served previously on the YWCA Northwestern Illinois Board and Finance Committee. Ms. Lyons states, “Serving will allow me the opportunity to share my experience and perspective while gaining new ideas and additional exposure the YWCA’s governance process.”

About Tiffany—Tiffany Nieman is the Manager of Organizational Development Operations for OSF HealthCare. In this role, Tiffany leads a team to build capacity and greater effectiveness. She is passionate about the mission of the YWCA as a former recipient of child care subsidies. Tiffany states, “I am being very intentional about commitments and opportunities that align with my values and allow me to use my skills and abilities to serve.”

YWCA Northwestern Illinois has provided women’s empowerment programming and advocacy since 1891. The organization now serves more than 12,000 women, children, and families each month, programming and services through child care subsidy, economic empowerment, quality child care access and improvement resources, YWCA La Voz Latina’s Hispanic and Latino community programming, family and child development, immigrant support, partner abuse intervention and racial justice work that promotes a clear commitment to equality. YWCA Northwestern Illinois delivers its mission, “eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all,” to women and families in the six-county area of Boone, Jo Daviess, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago, Illinois.
