The New Americans Initiative (NAI) is a coordinated campaign for citizenship that links legal permanent residents directly to the information and services they need to successfully pursue citizenship.

The YWCA Northwestern Illinois’ La Voz Latina will now be offering free Citizenship Education and Preparation classes to assist legal, permanent residents directly to the information and services they need for the citizenship exam.

• Those eligible must have a green card and have intermediate to advanced English, reading, writing, and speaking skills.
• Courses start September 8 to December 1. Courses will be held on: 
  • Monday and Saturday (VIRTUAL): 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Monday and Wednesday (IN PERSON): 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm
